A major government change is about to shut foreign buyers out of the Australian property market for at least two years.
From April 1st, 2025, foreign buyers will no longer be able to buy established properties—and the ban is expected to last until at least 2027, if not longer.
That’s just a few weeks away.
If you’re a foreign buyer looking to purchase in Perth, this is your last chance before restrictions lock you out for years.
What Does This Mean for Foreign Buyers?
- As of April 1st, 2025, foreign buyers will be banned from purchasing established properties, for a minimum of two years.
- This applies nationwide and may be extended beyond 2027.
- Foreign buyers will still be able to purchase brand-new off-the-plan properties that meet FIRB (Foreign Investment Review Board) guidelines.
With only a couple of weeks left, demand for eligible properties is increasing fast.
